I’ve been in the mood for a good hot dog for a while now and Mr. Brunswick knows how to keep the hype high. Enter Trunk, with a large eating area out front, beer garden in the back and indoor dining area that was spacious without feeling intrusive to other diners.
Trunk does burgers, sides, quesadillas, breakfast and a whole lot more – but we had our eyes on lock down on a pair of juicy, moist hot dogs. Service was efficient and we were given the option to choose our table (thumbs up) and prompted for inside seats, which I shortly regretted due to sucky lighting and my amatuer photography skills. Moving on. Mr. Brunswick made dibs on “The Ron Swanson” (I LOVE Parks and Recreation!!) and I went for “Breaking Bad” (Science, B!).
Thumbs ups and all signs of approval from Mr. Brunswick who thoroughly polished off The Ron Swanson.
While the Breaking Bad made for an awesome first bite of a blast of flavors, I was quite disappointed. But I’ll tell you why. The cheese kransky had snap but felt a bit soggy in the centre (Not too sure if this was an off day?) and the whole hot dog tasted very lukewarm. I really liked the spicy mustard though!
We also got the cheese fries which Mr. Brunswick abandoned me to fend for myself. Again, it was lukewarm and nothing special really stood out. I don’t think I’ll be in a rush to visit again and it definitely won’t be for the fries or hot dogs, maybe burgers only next time?
