Today’s lunch crawl episode, brought to you by … Pizza.
I may have mentioned once or twice that I am so lucky that my employment is at the heart of the CBD.
The restaurant biz is highly competitive and cut-throat especially in the city. One moment you’re the ‘it’ kid riding the wave of the hot new trend *cough* tear drop cake *cough* and fade into obscurity the next. The positive is that if you’re a consumer, your choices are endless! Only the most delicious survive.
My heart tells me it wants pizza today. I happily oblige and we make our way to A25 Pizzeria.
A25 is a trendy pizzeria that’s housed on Lonsdale Street with locations in South Yarra and Docklands. Seating is pretty decent with outside tables as well. We ordered the Margherita, Sexy Truffle as mains and an entree plate of calamari for funzies.
Not to be a negative nancy here, but we weren’t really a fan of these pizza’s. The crust was nice and thin but were a bit too chewy leaning on the tough side. It’s not the satisfying chew that we get from other pizzeria’s (maybe we need to work on our jaw muscles?). I think the ‘Sexy Truffle’ would’ve benefited with less or no raddichio, especially when the truffle flavour was so tame. Sometimes, I just want a no frills mushroom pizza and bask in the earthy goodness, you know?
The calamari pieces were crisp and fried well. They are a lot thinner and dare I say the thinnest fried calamari’s I’ve ever had? Not necessarily a negative because you get a better crunch but with a lack of calamari flavour.
I still had a good time (the service is great) but am not rushing at coming back any time soon.
